Car-Fest South - Saturday - Music - Photo Gallery
Day number two at Car Fest South and another set of performances on the Live Stage area including sets from The Bootleg Beatles, Jack Savoretti, Bellowhead, Seasick Steve, Toploader and late addition to the bill Kaiser Chiefs closing the night with style.
Bootleg BeatlesThe first band of the evening was The Bootleg Beatles who for all intents and purposes did exactly as it says on the tin, they played hits from the Beatles vast back catalogue whilst not only looking the part they sounded very good too.
Mark Webber And Jody ScheckterChris Evans then came on stage with Mark Webber and Laverstoke Park Farm land owner Jody Scheckter to talk about how the festival was born and the reasons for it.
Mark Webber was spotted earlier this afternoon giving a passenger ride on the track in the Porsche pictured below, Jody has also been offering passenger rides in his new Mercedes across the whole weekend.
Jack SavorettiBack to the live stage Soft Rocker Jack Savoretti played a handful of songs featuring "Sweet Hurt" and "Knock Knock"
Match The Poo - Competition WinnerThe live stage wasnt just an outlet for performing artists there were a few competitions held over the weekend in which the finalists would get a couple of minutes on stage time between bands, one of these was a competition called "Match The Poo" where the entrants had to match the correct faeces with the corresponding animal.
BellowheadFolk rockers Bellowhead were up next and they provided a setlist crammed full of crowd-pleaser's and favourites including "London Town" "Turn The Woodpile Down" and "New York Girls"
The 11 strong band filled the stage with not only their presence, a vast amount of energy within the performance itself especially from frontman Jon Boden.
More GuestsA whole array of guests came up on to the stage to welcome the next act, although unable to decide who should have the honour of making the announcement, with this amount of admiration it's no wonder why last year Chris Evans named a stage after him.
Seasick SteveSurprisingly not playing on the stage named after himself, Seasick Steve played a set on the main stage, as always the performance was filled with not only music but stories of how he became, the varying self built guitars one of them made from an air filter housing, one made from a washboard and even a one stringed guitar.
There was something for everyone within the performance, Blues, Country, Rock and Roll whichever your musical style or if you just like to party I urge you to go and check out Seasick Steve, I did and was so surprised the first time I booked up a second time a couple of weeks later and subsequently this was my 10th show thus far.
At the end of the performance Chris Evans came on stage with a bible and a bottle of whiskey along with a special announcement of honour offered to Seasick Steve who was then sworn in to be the President of Car Fest South, still unknown as to his duties it's pretty much guaranteed that he will be back again next year.
ToploaderToploader were the penultimate band of the evening, they performed a stellar performance of classic songs including the ever popular "Dancing In The Moonlight" "Achilles Heel" and of course "Time Of My Life" as I have been wanting to see this band since the late 90's it was a pleasure to have been able to not only see them play live but be able to shoot from the stage.
Amongst the next random entertainment Chris Evans assembled Flight Lieutenant Charlie Brown and the Chinook crew on stage to perform a rather purposely ill fitting rendition of YMCA and In The Navy.
Chris Evans again greeted the crowd and offered the microphone around to join in with the singing.
There was even a marriage proposal on stage from one of the Car Fest staff.
Kaiser ChiefsAfter a big build up the final band of the evening was Kaiser Chiefs, frontman Ricky Wilson apologised for not being able to leave many gaps between the songs but they thought it best to rattle through as many songs as they could squeeze in to the time remaining.
Ricky spent most of the performance utilising all available areas including the railings and he also climbed the side of the stage and hung off of it with one hand.
Ricky even managed to squeeze in an ice bucket challenge whilst on stage, with Chris Evans, James Martin, Paul Hollywood, Nick Mason, Alex James and Tom Kerridge circling the singer whilst he continued the encore unsure of when the icy water would hit him.
Continuing the set until the very end, dripping wet Ricky Wilson and Chris Evans share a hug.
Having chalked the experience up as one of my favorites, evening number two was over, although there was another day and evening to go afterwards, for the rest of the festival coverage please check out the Car Fest South Landing Page Here, as more articles are being produced daily
