Car-Fest South 2013 - CarsOne of the main aspects of the festival was the new and improved hillclimb, which featured two chicanes and a loop at the top of the climb to enable the cars to parade back down the hill again after roaring up.
There were many racing drivers and celebrities at the show. Some were there to take in the atmosphere, some to perform on stage and some even gave us performances by driving up the hillclimb, Seasick Steve was just one of the celebrities in attendance, When he was told he could do whatever he wanted with Chris Evans Ferrari before taking it up the hill he decided to adopt a unique hands off approach to driving, which was a sight to behold as he looked like he was on a rollercoaster at the time.
There were masses of exotic and wonderful cars to feast your eyes on in the paddocks, static displays and car clubs dotted around the site, one of the most notable was Nick Masons stunning £20m+ Ferrari 250 GTO.
There were also many car clubs in attendance and one of the biggest selection available to walk around was all down to the efforts of the Aston Martin Owners Club, There were so many Aston Martins at this years festival that a featured run up the hill on Sunday morning was incorporated into the diary of events.
Albeit not a timed hillclimb some of the drivers certainly acted like it was, by showing off the brute horsepower that these beautiful machines can produce, The best efforts across the weekend came from the driver at the wheel of the new Caterham on Sunday Morning, giving it so much welly that he nearly slid into the hay bails at the top of the climb.
However the WRC and Formula 1 cars all came in at a very close second, with the two ex Colin McRae WRC cars fiercely showing what these cars are capable of.
It came as no surprise that Jody Sheckter knew how to drive the course, being as it was his back garden, Reunited with his world famous Tyrrell P34 Six Wheeled Formula 1 car, and also driving in the same batch of cars his own World Grand Prix winning Ferrari 312T4
However fun it may be motorsport can be dangerous and there were a few minor accidents over the weekend but nothing that a little (well probably a lot) of money and a decent bodyshop cant fix.
