The Wedgewood Rooms Comedy Club - 25-10-2013The Wedgewood Rooms opens its doors fortnightly to some of the best up and coming and established talent on the comedy circuit, This week was no exception we were treated with four very talented comedians and of course everyone's favourite local compère Dinga.
Dinga
Dinga comes pre armed with a battery of rude and somewhat dirty jokes, mostly about life experiences. Well I think its the way he tells them that make them seem much farther from fantasy than the truth.
Jim Smallman
When Jim first entered the stage he gave me the impression of a modestly sober variant of Johnny Vegas, The comedian hailing from Leicester had a very solid routine, keeping the crowd entertained throughout telling stories of his daughter and father also managed some rather entertaining crowd participation defining the difference between men and women's vocal characteristics.
Elliot Steele
Next up was fresh new comedian Elliot Steele, Being new to the comedy circuit and having a near sell out audience in front of him the 17 year old had a touch of nerves, rightly so I wouldn't of been able to get on stage so young.. hell I can only just get on stage now and mutter a few words into the microphone before running back to hide behind the camera, However the routine was well versed and with time and more confidence this guy will be a force to be reckoned with, The routine consisted of stories about situations he and his friends had been subjected to. As the stories unfolded Elliot showed off an amount of diversity by pulling off multiple accents to tell his account of growing up in south London.
Elis James
Elis James was next up to bat, The Welsh comedian now in his eighth year of performing adapts himself to the crowd and seamlessly stitches together comedic tales of woe and misfortune, keeping the crowds attention throughout.
Michael Fabbri
Michael came on stage and began with his childhood stories of being a dyslexic and being moved to the other room in school along with his portrayal of working for the Job Centre, he kept the crowd in stitches throughout the performance and even created the notion that perhaps the odd bee you happen to come across on a train is actually commuting to his/her place of work also.
And so ends a fabulous night of comedy but this was not the end of the night, Dinga hands the stage over to the DJ's whilst the tables get taken away so the venue can transform into free nightclub "It's A Sin" until 2:30am, Oh go on then I may as well stick around for a bit ran through my head.... only to return home at 3am.
