Goodwood Festival Of Speed Highlights - 11th - 14th July 2013Famous Drivers And RidersOver the course of the weekend I managed to meet so many of my childhood idols and come up close to their cars. some of the most memorable moments had to have been meting Sir Stirling Moss & Sir Jackie Stewart getting ready to drive The Mercedes W196 (One of which sold on Friday afternoon for £17,500,000.00 + Fees And Taxes brought the final figure to nearly £20,000,000.00)
Damon Hill was also among the famous drivers, riders and presenters that I met over the weekend, along with Lewis Hamilton, Jensen Button, Chris Evans, James Martin & Oliver Turvey.
Martini RacingMartini Racing brought with them an array of racing icons past and present, along with a fully equipped bar supplying Martinis to all of the lucky people that came along to the paddock.
I met some lovely Martini representatives managed to get up close to some of my most admired cars in racing history in the original livery and I must admit I did try a few Rose' Martinis over the weekend. Stunt Cars, Drivers And RidersBob Riggle ©WWW.M4TOGRAPHY.CO.UK
There were many riders and drivers showing off their skills over the weekend, here are a few of my favourite shows
Burnouts GaloreLewis Hamilton was among the list of rather excitable drivers, the challenge of burning the most rubber was set, however I think that the NASCAR guys unofficially won the challenge.
GAS ArenaWorld famous trials bike rider Dougie Lampkin - MBE Showers Christian Stevenson With Mud And Debris as he wheel spins terrifyingly close to Chris's manhood in one of the many G.A.S arena shows I caught over the weekend.
Many other highlights of the weekend came from the G.A.S Arena including the BMX riders Kye Forte And Jay Cowley attempting to unofficially beat Kye's Guinness world record BMX high jump of 20' 11" as seen in some of the below photos. Some of the greatest shows of FMX Dirt Bike stunts came from Petr Pilat & Brody Wilson however there was a showstopping 16-year-old Spaniard called Chris Meyer who wooed the crowds by back-flipping and tail-whipping his bike around 50ft above the crowds at Goodwood before landing with a fist pump to the air to get the crowds going.
Ferrari F40If you are anything like me in the late 80's you had posters all over your bedroom wall of Pinup cars, I guarantee that one of them would of been a Ferrari F40. Thinking about it I probably have my one locked away in storage with the blu-tack still attached to the corners, This car had an era of increased fame when the smash hit game Outrun came along.
Many thanks go to Francois Graff for presenting his extremely tidy car and allowing me to see one in real life for the first time. Goodwood In The SkyOver the weekend there was plenty of wheeled action and even a boat on show, Upon entering the grounds there were a few static aeroplanes on display from the Goodwood Aviation Aero Club along with helicopters from the same club giving pleasure flights over the grounds. However for a good 30 minutes every day there was a totally different display of speed and agility to that of the Hill Climb and Rally Stage.
Eyes once glanced on the now world famous Hilclimb pretty much instantaneously refocused above the site where the action was to circle, thankfully it was an extremely clear weekend, without a cloud in sight which made the aerobatic displays from the Red Arrows very visible. On Saturday all eyes were focused on The Avro Vulcan B.2 bomber XH558, Sundays focus was fixed on the Eurofighter Typhoon in the afternoon with the Red Arrows finishing off in a late afternoon display.
