Is Social Media Revolutionising the Music IndustryGinger Wildheart - Click For Gallery And Review
Everyone who knows me knows that music plays a vital role in my life and with new artists coming and going as quickly as the British weather decides to change course. I once read somewhere that the music you listen to in your teens will stick with you forever, that sentiment cant be any closer to the truth for me.
One band that stood out from the rest in my early teen years was The Wildhearts, Despite a certain air of bad media surrounding them at the time there was something I heard within the music and from the first riff I heard back then I can safely say I was hooked from day one.
So when I heard that there was something new on the horizon naturally I wanted to know what it was all about, The website www.g-a-s-s.co suddenly appeared along with a twitter account that seemingly started picking off Wildhearts fans and following them. A simple tweet was also banded around stating "A GASS leak has been detected" it was not very long until the Facebook group started buzzing putting two and two together to realise that all of the followers of the twitter account were a part of this same group. A lot of mystery surrounded the following weeks with plenty of theories as to what the acronym stood for then one rather clever fan decided to check out the unicode to find some hints it then became a puzzle to be cracked by the most devout fans I have ever seen, It was like being part of a big clue busting circle. From the date of the second leak it took less than 4 days to decipher all of the hidden messages and crack the meaning of the acronym Ginger Associated Secret Society, However there were still no clues as to what this new secret society was all about but what was apparent throughout was that the circle of fans all wanted to know. Another two weeks passed before the next update to the website, The new front page included a brief low-down of what G.A.S.S is all about, It is a new fan-club for all things Ginger but more exciting than that your payment guarantees that Ginger will record 36 new songs over the course of a year, that's 3 new songs a month, delivered digitally and depending on membership grade, previously unreleased tracks, video blogs, free meet and greets for the acoustic tour and many more benefits. As always being as much about the fans as it is about the music the idea was put to the All Things Wildhearts Facebook group by Ginger himself. Ginger put the cards on the table and more or less asked the fans what they would like for each tier, all ideas have been taken on board and the tiers have been shaken around a bit so that there can be a tier to suit all budgets. Frontman Ginger Wildheart has had a number of Pledgemusic campaigns in which every one has been a success however this is not a pledge music campaign and he still intends on releasing new material via that medium as well in the future. G.A.S.S will be taking live memberships from the 1st May 2014 and recording will start soon after, More info can be found on the official website http://www.g-a-s-s.co/announce/announce.php
