Car-Fest South 2013 - Live Stage - Saturday 24-08-2013Saturday afternoon, The first band up had raised a few eyebrows early on in the day across twitter for having one of their versions of a song played on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show rather than the official Blur recording. I did not hear the version played on the radio however the ban themselves were rather tight together and its no wonder they are the UK's number one Blur tribute act, I'm of course talking about Blurb.
Reef were next up on the main stage
Not quite sure what to expect from the next artist Alfie Boe after being told was an opera singer, open to everything and having been to the odd west end show I thought it was worth a listen, from the moment he started singing I was impressed as his singing style is a rough rugged form of the operatic scale performing classic rock and roll songs in his own style and genuinely tutning the songs into his own.
I will certainly be looking out for some more dates and try to catch another show or three on the next tour.
After a short interval Rubylux played the smaller stage, this stage was later named The Seasick Steve Stage.
Ocean Colour Scene played the Main stage almost immediately after the stage switching and transitions between artists was rather impressive this was helped along by having two separate stages keeping the crowds entertained throughout.
Chris Evans came back on stage again and introduced his very special guest Seasick Steve to the smaller stage, the time was allocated on the bill as Chris Evans thought to have been a DJ set from Chris, however this time was given to Seasick Steve to fill with a series of his own material.
Chris Evans later announced the smaller stage as from now on being called The Seasick Steve Stage and forever showing his gratitude to Steve for offering to play the show at such short notice.
The final band to play was Keane I have been a fan of Keane for a number of years now however have never before had the chance to catch them perform live, after my first three songs in the press pit I decided to spend the rest of the show sat on the side of the stage.
Below is a low quality video of Keane shot from the side of the stage whilst they were performing "Bedshaped"
