Three Friday Nights: Chase And Status - 6th June 2014It's official, The festival season has begun and what a fantastic start to the season Friday night was over at Goodwood Racecourse. we arrived at the racetrack to a chorus of cheering, not for us I might add alas the cheering denoted that the first race had just finished. As the next race was a good 30 minutes away we took a walk around the grounds to become acquainted to the area.
Owing to the fact we had Richmond Enclosure passes there were many different options for track-side viewing, with this in mind I thought it would be a good idea to get a perspective from both of the open enclosures, we ambled over to the finish post to get a good vantage point for the next race.
"The 6.35 - The Advanced Resource Managers EBF Stallions Maiden Stakes" where Jungle Cat beat the other 12 runners to the finish. Jungle Cat (8) can be seen pipping Sixty (12) and Aledaid (2) to the finish post.
We headed over to the winners circle to catch a glimpse of Jungle Cat being paraded round after the race.
Race three at 19.10pm was the EBF Stallions Breeding Winners Handicap and had 9 runners with Stepping out taking the £9057 prize fund. Divine can be seen below taking second place.
At 19.45pm Laughing Jack (3) won the Mazda Jinba Ittai Stakes Handicap beating 5 other runners, All The Winds (6) despite being at the rear of the below photo gathered some wind from somewhere and managed to steal second place away from Tafawuk (2)
11 runners took to the course for the 20.15 Levy Restaurant Maiden Fillies Stake with Sensible Way heading the field and beating the bookies favourite Joys of Spring into second place.
We headed back over to the winners circle again this time to see winner Sensible Way being paraded round.
Bookies favourite Joys Of Spring below still achieved an honourable second place.
And the prize going to owner and breeder Mr Malih L. Al Basti
The final race of the night, was ran in Honour of the special guest DJs Chase and Status which had 10 runners with Rapid Advance crossing the finish line first.

When the last race of the night had been confirmed and the horses left the parade ring an army of workers swiftly transformed the parade ring into a dance floor ready for the crowd to dance the night away.
As soon as the build was complete the stewards allowed the crowd to re enter the parade ring. which not 10 minutes earlier was a beautiful green grassed area, had now been transformed into a fully functional hard-standing dance floor. The dance floor soon filled up to capacity with the remainder of festival goers taking to the sides and upper tier viewing platforms.
The DJ set from Drum and Bass legends Chase and Status never failed to keep the dance floor moving.
Saul Milton aka DJ Chase had a little bit of help from two of his friends Mc Rage and Tempa T
Saul Milton aka Chase and Mc Tempa T keeping the crowds entertained.
The night gained a big thumbs up from a vast majority from where I was standing
Mc Tempa T seemed pretty happy with the evening as well.
As the gates of Goodwood close, We look forward to returning again Sunday the 8th June for the Charity Race Day and next Friday for the next instalment of Three Friday Nights featuring Naughty Boy Soundsystem DJ set.
There is plenty more to get excited about at the Goodwood Estate in the coming weeks and months.
