Gran Turismo 6M4TOGRAPHY is leaning a branch out into the world of video games, being an avid gamer and lover of all things motorised I figured as the upcoming release of Gran Turismo 6 was imminent this would be a great starting block to verse my thoughts.
After watching the new AMG Vision based intro and creating and adequate name for your budding racing driver, you are thrown straight into the driving seat of a 2011 Renault Sport Clio for a flying lap to get the feel of the game, However I did get the feeling that these sequences were only used to judge if you are a Monkey, Dog, Penguin, Robot or simply a human with opposable thumbs.
You then get taken to the new user dashboard which much like previous versions of the new track based offering from Sony Computer Entertainment And Polyphony Digital you immediately notice that the interface has changed a lot from previous versions, there are also a few tantalising new areas with little padlocks on waiting to be unlocked by carrying out particular achievements whilst progressing throughout the course of the game.
You are pretty much forced to purchase a Honda Fit RS which from the back looks like it says something else.... Erm... or maybe that's just my line of thought, the car itself is a good starting block and did me proud up for a lot of the early races, well until I had earned enough money to purchase the new Focus RS that is.
The game has a pretty fluid mode of progression, however there are also other break off avenues that you can progress via, like the new coffee break challenges which see you hurtling into cones to try and knock as many as you can over within a specified time limit. This is fun for all ages, as when I was playing my 3 year old son insisted on playing as well, I recorded this short clip of his view on the game.
As Jaxon says in the video above one of my favourite new additions has got to be the inclusion of the Goodwood Festival Of Speed Hillclimb, Where if you look closely you will probably find me on the sidelines snapping away ;) however the series of challenges need to be earned by progressing through the various seasons races which in turn unlock letters from Lord March inviting you to come over to Goodwood and test out a few cars.
Whilst testing GT6 I unfolded a glitch and managed to complete the 2nd Lunar level in 1:40 taking the gold trophy which should be upon completion of the course in around 2:30 check it out below.
