Play Up Pompey Music - 26th July 2013Two completely different genres of music played on staggered stages at The Wedgewood Rooms and The Edge Of The Wedge, coming together to raise money for The Portsmouth Football Club Supporters Trust, The Edge Of The Wedge had a series of Rock And Metal bands playing whilst walking through the central door into the Wedgewood Rooms saw a more melancholic set of bands.
over the course of the week preceding this event there were a series of other gigs to benefit the cause, with total fundraising estimated to reach around £10,000 which isn't to be sniffed at, But more to my liking is the fact that this cause is bringing people to live music events that wouldn't normally attend and with a vast majority liking what they saw maybe it will add to the music culture that we already have here in Portsmouth and perhaps give it that vital boost that is required to "Keep Live Music Live" a phrase I coined a couple of years ago, Upon noticing that live music venues across the south were disappearing into the ether.
The bands started off with ZenthetiX over in the Edge, and acoustic finalist Paddy Taylor opening the Wedge
And then came The Red And The Black and Carmen Rosa
Stray Bullets Kill were up next with Kill Kasper starting shortly after
New band The Underground Pilots finished off the Edge as Kassasin Street started the last Wedge set of the night
